Tiger Shrimp have distinctive stripe patterns on their bodies. The original Tiger Shrimp found in the aquarium trade originated from the same water systems in Guangdong Province, China as the Bee Shrimp (original Crystal Shrimp). Compared to regular Crystal Shrimp, Tiger Shrimp typically have better environmental adaptability and are easier to keep.
Tangerine Tiger Shrimp
Today, there are many cultivated varieties of Tiger Shrimp. For example, the Tangerine Tiger and Orange Eyed Blue Tiger are selectively bred to enhance body color and eye color. Tiger Shrimp have also been used to improve Crystal Shrimp varieties, such as the currently popular Fancy Tiger and the once-trending Galaxy Pinto, both of which gained their diverse patterns through Tiger Shrimp lineage.
